Get Involved
With a range of events throughout the year, we try to do something for everyone to get involved in - whether you are looking for opportunities to give back and make a difference through volunteering, come along to one of our events to learn more about nature, or just have a fun day out with others.
Volunteer with us
Sholing Valleys is a volunteer-run charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of Millers Pond Local Nature Reserve, and providing the community engaging opportunities to connect with the wildlife on site and raise awareness about how important nature is for everyone. We believe that together our efforts can make a difference in preserving this beautiful site of biodiversity for generations to come and inspiring people to fall in love with nature.

We rely on the support of volunteers to continue this work. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a student looking to volunteer a few hours, or simply someone looking to give back to your community, we would love to hear from you. Volunteers are essential to our success. We couldn't do the great things we do without people lending a hand!
There are different ways you could help support us.
Nature Watch
We are currently looking for help with our education activities. We would like someone to help support our Nature Watch sessions that happen once a month on the last Sunday. We have a dedicated activity lead, who currently plans and runs the sessions, but they could do with any extra pair of hands.

Marketing
We are on the look out for help with our marketing, be that delivering flyers to local libraries, or helping us with our social media approach.

Event volunteers
All our events need an extra pair of hands to help run stalls at the Spring Fayre, or make sure people are safe at the bat walks.

AGM
We have confirmed the date of the next Sholing Valleys AGM, for Wednesday 15th January. This is where we will be officially enrolling our newest volunteers for Committee.
We will have tea and cake as ever, and will review the great year we've had in 2024.
Being on our committee means coming to a meeting in an evening once a month. Its a great way to make sure Sholing Valleys delivers on the activities that you want to see happen on the reserve. And we are a lovely bunch of people!
If you would like to join our Committee, we ask that you attend our AGM. We also ask that you give us at least 10 days notice prior to the meeting, so we can arrange everything we need to.
Either way, we'd love to hear from you. Why not pop along and talk to us, drop us a message.
Upcoming events
We host a range of events, activities, volunteering days and sessions throughout the year.
We like providing many different ways to learn more and connect with your local green space. Come along, make memories, grow connections and be a part of something truly meaningful.
We are always open to suggestions for new activities, we want as many people as possible to enjoy the reserve and be inspired by nature.
